How do I get rid of the guilt?
Posted on November 07 2019
I'll tell you right now: you can't control everything.
You want everything to be perfect, all the time, and you don't allow yourself enough breaks to breathe and enjoy the passing of time?
Because time is passing and you won't get away with it. It will pass for you too. I don't want you to feel guilty. I just want you to become aware of yourself and to take action in that sense. You will be able to make different choices later on. Choices with more gentleness and kindness towards yourself.
The laundry has not been done this week. You see the mountain of clothes and you are not able to let go at least one day. You have the right, though. You have the choice and the last word.
You've just bought yourself the latest finance book to help you better manage the family budget, but the bills are piling up on the table and you're biting your fingers. Why?
Maybe you need to rethink some of your values. There is no such thing as the perfect wife and mother, and that's wonderful. But why am I telling you this?
Putting pressure on yourself for nothing
There are so many false emergencies these days. So many things to do. We want to perform, to do as many things as possible efficiently. But we forget ourselves in all this. We forget to question our true desires.
Have you made your list of priorities? What if you added a little more fantasy to your life? Do you want to allow yourself a little bit of fun here and there? Because life is meant to be fun too, right?
What do you really want? A day at the spa with friends or just a bubble bath with candles and your favourite skincare products?
You're allowed to pick up. To do nothing. Doing nothing scares you. Maybe it would help you to see your life clearly. To make the observations that are essential to your health and happiness. Because it starts with you first, and you've always known that.
When I let go or the vertigo of perfect women
And then, is it really serious to forget to dress your son like a fashion card for a school photo? Not doing your beauty routine before bed? Is anyone's life in danger? Are you really going to spend your time beating yourself up about all the things you forget to do in life? One day you'll probably laugh when you look at your son's picture. You'll think, "That's just the way it is.
Don't be hard on yourself. Give yourself some credit and be proud of doing your best. But above all, relax a little in your life. You only have one.
If you give yourself more time to let go, you can come back with more energy. Will you allow yourself to be the imperfect, but lovable woman you are, for good? Without the lingering guilt that serves no purpose other than to stress you out over and over again?
If you want to, make a Wonder Woman of yourself with the infinite flexibility of the human you are.
